Dear FUMC Family,
I pray that you are ready to move into the sacred season of Lent, which begins tomorrow – Ash Wednesday.
Lent is the solemn Christian observance commemorating the 40 days Jesus
spent fasting in the desert, according to the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. During those days He was tempted by Satan.
We will observe the sacred holy day tomorrow with a brief worship service
at 6:00PM. During the service, attendees will receive ashes on their foreheads in the shape of the Cross.
Our Lenten observance this year will also include a Last Supper Tableau
on Palm Sunday (March 24), a Maundy Thursday service of holy communion (March 28), and the Procession of the Cross on Good Friday (March 25.)
Please mark your calendars with those dates and look for details as we get closer to Holy Week.
May our Heavenly Father draw us close to Him during this season.
