Three Things From Pastor Dave:
I have been a Green Bay Packer fan since I was a little boy. During pro football season, I get an email from a Packer’s site several times a week. The theme of the email is: Three Things About the Packers.
I’ve realized there is something special about that number of highlighted issues. So, for the next several weeks, I am going to use the theme of “Three Things From Pastor Dave” when I communicate with you.
First Thing: beginning Sunday, July 3, we will worship in one combined service at 10:30am through the month of July. The July 3 service will be in the Sanctuary, and ensuing Sundays will move back and forth between that venue and the CLC.
Sunday School will precede the worship services at either 9:15am or 9:30am, depending on the decisions made by individual classes. And also, on July 10 and July 24, we will offer Godly Play Sunday School for our children.
Two additional details about our July worship: following the service on July 17, we will enjoy a meal together, feasting on hot dogs and hamburgers in the CLC. Because that Sunday is less than two weeks after Independence Day, please consider wearing something red, white, or blue that day. What wonderful
fellowship and food we will enjoy!
Secondly, on Sunday July 10, at 4:00pm in the afternoon in our Sanctuary, our Joseph Franklin will perform a benefit concert for our 2022 Habitat for Humanity project. Joseph will be assisted by our Patsy Riddle and another musician or two. The recital/worship experience will last about an hour and will be a time to let God speak to us through instrumental music.
An offering will be taken for Habitat at the end of the service. We are making progress toward the $25,000 goal required to build a Habitat house for a family in dire need of housing this fall.
Please put that special event on your calendar, and invite your friends and family to join you. I have no doubt that it will be amazing!
And finally, our Vacation Bible School will run from Monday July 25 through Thursday July 28, from 9:00am – Noon. VBS isn’t what it used to be. It’s a time filled with modern music (led by our Jamie Jones and also by incredible children who are with us on video.)
The theme for this year’s VBS is “Monumental.” It will be led by our Tara Hatton and Erika Murphy. Other staff, including our Jamie Jones, Joseph Franklin, Danny Clark, Kay Lanier, and I will be involved.
You can do two things to ensure the success of the VBS program: make certain that your children, grandchildren, and friends and neighbor’s children are present.
And secondly, we are in need of additional volunteers. What more important thing could you do this summer than to help our children understand the Gospel!
May you remain aware of God’s blessings this summer.
