First Church Family:
Thank you for being an incredible church! Every time we choose to support a
mission/ministry, you are all in; and over the past months there have been so
many of them.
Our prayers continue for those affected by the wrath of Hurricane Helene.
A tragic news report shared that as flood waters rose in Buncombe County, one
little boy was swept away from his mother. Though shrouded with grief, that
mother later said that she is comforted that the last thing she heard from him
was his call for the LORD to be with him.
The Psalmist provides the answer from Almighty God:
“Where can I go from Your spirit, O God?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend to heaven, You are there;
if I make my bed in hell, You are there.
If I take the wings of the morning
and settle at the farthest limits of the sea,
even there Your hand shall lead me,
and Your right hand shall hold me fast.”
(Psalm 139: 7 – 10)
We too are comforted that that little boy was held, and still remains, in the palm of His hand. And so are we.
May God be close to all who suffer.
Blessings on you,
Pastor Dave
P. S. Please read yesterday’s email about Helene response opportunities. I will continue to keep us informed on ways we can help.
