First Church Family,
I pray that you are enjoying some respite from cold, dark, and rainy days. I certainly am!
Note the following updates:
*Please consider making a special offering for those suffering in Turkey and Syria following the catastrophic earthquake last week. Our relief agency, UMCOR, is on the ground there working around the clock to bring comfort and relief to those who are recovering. You may make a donation to our church with the memo “UMCOR Turkey,” knowing that every dollar donated goes directly to those in need.
*This Sunday, our first Confirmation class in several years begins. The class will meet from 4:00pm – 5:15pm every other Sunday until May 21, when we will confirm students in worship. All youth from 12 – 16 who haven’t participated in confirmation before are invited to join me for what I believe will be a wonderful experience growing in our faith.
*Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. The highlight of our 6:00pm worship service will be the imposition of ashes. All ages are invited to join us in the Sanctuary for that service.
*And Sunday, February 26, after the 11:00am service, we will share a fellowship meal in the CLC. Our Kay Lanier is going to prepare her delicious lasagna for that event. Reservations aren’t required, and there is no charge, though a basket will be available for our donations. Plan to be present for that and to linger to visit with our FUMC family.
