Dear FUMC Family,
It’s only Wednesday but it feels like a Friday afternoon after a long week’s work at one of our local factories because of the way the large number of volunteers from our congregation served our guests yesterday in our third annual Pancake Day for Missions (this year to support our local Helping Hands Clinic.)
There were well over 60 people from our congregation and scout troops who worked like trojans Monday afternoon setting up, and Tuesday morning, afternoon, and evening serving our guests pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, juice, water, and coffee.
And though our guests (including more than a thousand students and educators from five local elementary schools) went out of their way to tell us how much it meant to them to come be with us, I believe we were those who were most gratified because of the opportunity to partner with Jesus in serving and bringing joy to his daughters and sons of all ages!
And what wonderful anecdotes we have to share. One of my special moments was when a young teacher called me over because one of his 6-year-olds had a question for me.
After I walked over, the little boy looked up for a moment before saying anything because he wasn’t sure I was the one he wanted to thank. But after a moment’s pause, he asked: “Are you the owner of this church?”
Oh goodness… I’ll share in worship Sunday about how I answered his question, and also some more results of our incredible day.
But now it’s “on to the next play!”
Our next big event will be our: “Last Supper Tableau” on Palm Sunday, March 24. This is something we did two years ago, to rave reviews from our congregation and guests.
Thirteen men from our church will serve as Jesus and His disciples, with each individual disciple coming out of a freeze and telling his personal story of Jesus. It’s an amazing production!
Our musicians will sing and play beautiful Holy Week selections during that service. Two years ago, a number of you told me that you wished you had invited your families to be here with us for that event (including several adult children and their families from out of state.)
Now is the time to offer those invitations – for Sunday, March 24 at 10:00am (Palm Sunday)!
Thank you for serving God the way you do. It is an honor to be with you.
Blessings,
Pastor Dave
