CHRISTMAS WITH THE PRESCHOOL

If you have a moment during the Christmas season, please go downtown and see the Robbins Preschool tree. It is directly in front of Riccoco Rionel (between the Antique Mart and the corner ice cream store). The children dressed as stars of the 50’s and 60’s, and they are adorable! Thank you to Helping Hands for sponsoring our tree!

December Message

First Church Family,      We are well into December and that means beautiful seasonal music! This Sunday, in our traditional service (11:00 in the sanctuary) our Chancel Choir, with orchestra, will present its Christmas program. Invite friends and family to attend, as this will be one of our community’s highest quality musical experiences.     At our First Light service (9:00 in the CLC) our theme will be: “What Child is This? #2 – Mighty God.” Then, next Sunday, December…

Blessing of the Animals

On the front steps of our church, all were invited as Pastor Dave and Aaron blessed the animals and our member’s pets. What a great crowd we had show up for the event. We had 67 dogs and cats. Such a wonderful time had by all.

BBQ Festival

We enjoyed working at the Lenoir BBQ Festival Saturday, October 19! So much fun… we are going to do it again next year!

We will begin the year with a bang, as on Sunday, September 15, we will join literally thousands of churches across the country celebrating: “Back-to-Church Sunday”. At our church, our attendance has been strong all summer. But now school has started, and…

Our Mission

FUMC Family, September marks the beginning of the church year. However, the summer has been an important time for visioning. There have been three Church Council meetings from May through August. And each of those meetings was significant. In our May meeting, directions were given for a four-person sub-committee to report back to the Council in its June meeting (the 30th) with a new Mission Statement proposal. At the June meeting the Council unanimously ratified the following as our Mission…

After Easter Message

Dear FUMC Family, What a wonderful Lent and Easter we experienced at First UMC!  The Palm/Passion Sunday commemoration was powerful, as was the choir’s presentation of “The Weeping Tree” along with readers and dramatists, on Good Friday evening. Too, our Holy/Maundy Thursday services were meaningful, as we followed Jesus through supper with His disciples as he continued to walk to the Cross for us. Then we turned out at dawn for our Easter Sunrise service, followed by a wonderful breakfast…
